Local Area
Eastern North Carolina is beautiful and offers a chance at a different lifestyle… one filled with richness, actitivies, friends and family. This is the place where you can come to revisit old memories with family and friends, but it’s also where you’ll build new memories.

However, when you crave the hustle and bustle of bigger city life, there are many cities and attractions to choose from – all within driving distance. Or, better yet, take one of the area’s ferrys… a relaxing 20-minute ride while enjoying your morning coffee and let them do the driving.

The Village of Oriental – Oriental is known as the “Sailing Capital of the South”. Folks visit to enjoy the fine sailing off Oriental and the peaceful village lifestyle. Oriental is a frequent destination for fisherman and paddlers too. Oriental is home to a growing art colony, with offerings in both fine arts and the performing arts. Exhibits are held in town throughout the year and continuously at galleries. The Pamlico County Civic and Cultural Center is housed in the “Old Theater” and serves as the home of the Pelican Players. The Pamlico Music Society hosts visiting musicians at the Old Theater too. Events in Oriental range from regattas to some rather quirky festivals. You won’t find a Florida theme park, but you will find a real town with a real harbor and friendly people.

Morehead City – Centrally located on North Carolina’s Crystal Coast, Morehead City is home to 1 of 2 state ports and is well known for its hospitality, fishing, and of course seafood. The area offers plenty for tourists from boardwalk boutiques, and antique shops to tours of Fort Macon and the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Carteret County, home to Beaufort, Morehead City, Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle provides entertainment for all ages, from bowling, swimming, putt putt, boat charters and rentals to 9 area golf courses, all located within 1 hours drive.

Greenville – Called the Gateway to Eastern North Carolina (the third largest university in North Carolina), Greenville is home to East Carolina University (Go Pirates!) and is the place to explore the historic, natural, and recreational resources of the coastal plain. Greenville and Pitt County have emerged as the commercial, cultural, educational, and medical hub of the region. The area exhibits a wealth of amenities and a Southern atmosphere that are more than you’d expect.

Raleigh – You have the opportunity to fly out of our regional airport, or drive 2 1/2 hours to the Raleigh International Airport. Take a stroll through one of their museums or galleries, or wake up your wild side at one of the eclectic eateries, late-night clubs or high-octane sports match. This town also boasts the Carolina Hurricanes, the North Carolina Ballet, North Carolina State University, and Duke University. It’s a place built to be open, engaging and unique.
